The Siberian Husky is a very popular dog breed and actually ranks as the 6th most popular dog breed on the DogPack App. These dogs have unique appearances and characteristics, which attracts many dog owners to bring one home. Here we will give you a quick breakdown of 10 things you should know about these dogs!

Siberian Husky

#10 - The Husky is one of the oldest dog breeds and originated among the Chukchi tribe in Siberia. They were used by this nomadic tribe primarily for transportation but were also often used as companion dogs.

#9 - Huskies often have beautiful multi-colored eyes, which gives them a unique appearance. Looking into these dogs' eyes is quite the sight (pun intended).

#8 - These medium-sized dogs are powerful, athletic, and jam-packed with energy. Having one of these dogs at home requires an owner that is ready to run them often!

#7 - Huskies have lived alongside humans for a long time and get along well with anyone. However, since this is the case, they do not make the best watchdogs as they will likely greet an intruder with some face licks and friendly tail wags.

#6 - These dogs are one of the most intelligent and trainable breeds. This isn't to say that they don't have their stubborn streaks. However, with enough dedication, they can learn just about any task.

#5 - Huskies have a strong prey drive and will love to chase after small animals. Having a second pet at home is not always possible with a Husky, as their instincts can easily get the better of them.

#4 - Given that these dogs were bred to be sled-pulling dogs, they have incredible stamina. They are known to be able to run for miles on end without breaking a sweat. Any Husky owner out there will tell you how difficult it is to rid them of their energy.

#3 - Huskies are pack animals at heart and usually do great with other dogs. They play very nicely with other dogs at the dog park and can chase and play for hours on end.

#2 - The Husky is a notorious escape artist. Anytime they are off-leash is a potential risk, and they must be supervised closely. If they see a squirrel run by through a small opening in the gate, they will run right after them and catching up to this speedster will not be easy.

#1 - Huskies are incredible animals that can make the most amazing pets. That said, they are also a lot of work and require an experienced dog owner to care for them. Unfortunately, people often bring them home without understanding the responsibilities involved, and they may end up in shelters. It is essential to share this information so that dog lovers can make sure that the breed they bring home is suitable for their needs 🙂
