Welcome to the official dog park located at Southland Drive SE & Deerfoot Trail in Calgary, AB! This fully fenced and off-leash area is a great spot for dogs of all sizes to run free. It features a shaded seating area where you can relax while your furry friend enjoys the open field and swimming area. Plus, you can take advantage of the nearby free parking and dog-friendly trails. While the park allows dog toys and has plenty of space to roam, please note that it does lack amenities like water fountains and poop bags, so be prepared to clean up after your pup! User experiences at the park vary widely. Some love the secure environment and the chance to socialize their dogs, especially with many medium to large breeds around. The presence of multiple garbage bins is appreciated, but be aware of mixed reviews regarding cleanliness, as some visitors have expressed concerns about other dog owners not cleaning up after their pets. Additionally, the park's proximity to the highway can lead to background noise, and shaded areas are limited until you reach the water. Overall, it's important to be a responsible pet owner to help maintain this space for everyone’s enjoyment. Fun fact: This area is part of Calgary's extensive park system, which includes numerous trails and recreational spots. The city is known for its commitment to preserving green spaces, allowing residents and their pets to enjoy nature even in the bustling urban environment. However, as with any public area, the maintenance and cleanliness of these spaces ultimately depend on the community's involvement.

Poop 💩 park. Remember citizens we are responsible for these dogs spaces Calgary does not clean up after us. The feces is appalling especially considering there is a garbage bin like every 20 ft. Dogs contract many diseases from fecal matter, wildlife suffers because of the disgusting remnants left. It is up to us to maintain this space not bylaw not animal services and not the City of Calgary.
one of my favourite dog parks! it is secure & has multiple areas including an space for reactive dogs. there’s always many dogs here so it’s my go to for meeting new dogs- it’s not too crowded though! i think it’s important to note that the majority of these dogs are medium-large breeds (which in my experience are all pretty well behaved). it has a really nice swimming area. overall, this is definitely one of my go to dogs parks, totally recommend!🐾❤️

Massive park, lots of different areas to access, multiple garbage bins, outhouses, multiple access points to the river. Two separate fenced areas for smaller dogs or training

Huge great off leash dog park
I like the proximity to water and the many garbage bins but that is all I like about this dog park. The parking lot is horrible and not even close to big enough. More than 90% of the dogs are really big every time I visit. The people there are the worst though. They do not react at all when their massive dogs jump up in my face, which happens every single visit. Not even once in my 5 visits has anyone so much as said no or down never mind doing anything to correct the behaviour or apologize. It is the worst dog park in Calgary if you are hoping for responsible owners who clean up after their dogs and demand good behaviour. Also, it’s so close to the highway it’s crazy loud and there is no shade until you get all the way to the water. The parking lot smells like pee all year round. Not a pleasant experience.
My dogs heaven on earth! We travel from far south to go here
