If you're a dog owner looking for a great spot to enjoy some outdoor time with your furry friend, check out the park located at HCR4+5HG Ohakune, New Zealand. This dog-friendly area boasts an off-leash section on the east side of the swinging bridge, where your pup can romp around freely. For those who prefer a more structured walk, the west side requires dogs to be on-leash. The park features a serene dog-friendly trail alongside the river, perfect for a nice, easy walk. Just remember to bring coats if it's raining, as there's little tree cover. With amenities such as a water fountain, shaded seating areas, and free parking nearby, you and your dog can enjoy a full day out without any hassle. After your adventures, swing by Frankie's café for a bite to eat. There's even a swimming area where your dog can splash around, but be prepared—the river is glacier-fed and can be quite cold! While the park doesn’t have specific separation for big and small dogs or a double-gated entrance, it’s still a highly rated spot, earning 4.8 stars from fellow dog owners. Note that, while amenities like poop bags and a fully fenced area are not confirmed, the welcoming environment and beautiful surroundings make this park a delightful destination for you and your pup!

Nice quick easy walk by the river

Nice easy walk, no tree cover so if raining bring coats for you and the dogs. There is also cafes close by for a bite to eat or drink afterwards, can recommend Frankie's cafe as we stopped in there for a coffee 🙂

I ticked that this has swimming are— but be aware the river cones down from the glacier and is freezing cold. Nonetheless I whipped off my clothes and wading in today to get Locky’s lost ball hurumph
Lovely easy track to take a walk, both on leash and off leash areas. Track is shared with cyclists so be aware.
East side of swinging bridge is off leash; west side is on leash. And there’s disc golf course for humans to play while dogs run around
