About This Park

Located at 8833 Harmony Grove Rd in Escondido, CA, this park is a wonderful destination for dog owners seeking a dog-friendly environment. With a variety of trails, such as the "Way Up" and "Butterfly Loop," you and your furry friend can enjoy some exercise and hiking while taking in the beautiful natural surroundings. The Way Up trail starts at the creek, offering a narrow but rewarding uphill adventure that opens up to broader paths at the top, while the Butterfly Loop features shaded areas by the creek, though some parts can be rocky. Be mindful of poison oak, which can be found along the trails, but it's generally easy to avoid. Most users have reported a positive experience with fellow dog owners, noting that dogs are typically leashed and well-behaved. Keep in mind that while there was a rare incident with an off-leash dog, such occurrences are considered outliers. With its scenic trails and friendly atmosphere, this park is an excellent spot for both you and your dog to explore together.

Good trail to get some exercise and hiking in with the dog. Going left from the main entrance, theres 2 trails: way up and butterfly loop. The way up trails starts at the creek and gets a bit narrow once going uphill but broadens at the top of the way up trail. The butterfly loop trail is very rocky on the far end side away from the building/center, but has a nice shaded area by the creek. Lots of poison oak depending on season but easily avoidable. If you go right from the trails entrance at the large bulletin toward the building, theres some cool little statues to see but then the trail has too much poison oak to continue. Most all dog owners/dogs are respectful on the trail and have leashed/well behaved dogs. There was once an off leash dog that charged my dog and owners had no recall, but out of maybe 15 trips I will count that as an outlier.
