Amazing dog park with a great community!
This park is amazing. The community that visit this park are kind and very welcoming. This park is fairly new, has two shady pavilions, and some park structures for agility. Also the paws for a cause event they hold every year is tons of fun!
Baxter has been going to this park for about a year now. This is a wonderful park to socialize your dog, and the closest option if you live north of Knoxville. However, it does have several downsides. In the summer, you can’t go for several days after a rain storm due to big puddles that the dogs love to play in baking in the sun all day. No dogs have gotten sick that I’m aware of, but the puddles may be dangerous to their health. In the winter, I don’t mind the puddles much. The dogs love them and they make for great photos. I just wish the area had been sloped to drain better since they cleared out every single tree to build the park. There is no shade in the fenced area short of two small shelters with benches underneath. There are two sapling trees in the big dog area, but they will have to survive a decade of urine before they’re able to provide decent shade to park goers. The grass really took a beating over the winter, but it seems to be coming back ok. It’s best to bring your own waste bags as the park managers don’t always restock them on time. Overall, the folks who frequent the park are nice and so are their dogs. I have been witness to one fight but not seen either dog involved visit since. Usually, there’s plenty of parking but I did have to park in the grass once.
