About This Park

Located at 55 Buttonwoods Rd, Richmond, RI, this official dog park offers a large space for your furry friends to roam and play. The park features amenities such as benches, trash cans, and dog waste bags, making it convenient for pet owners. Additionally, there is agility equipment available, adding an extra layer of fun for dogs who enjoy a challenge. However, it's important to note some concerns raised by locals. The park is built on a landfill, and there are warnings about a significant puddle that may pose safety risks. Dog owners are advised to avoid letting their pets dig in the area as it may unearth trash. While it provides a spacious area for dogs, there is currently no separate space for small dogs. A local council member mentioned plans to relocate the park within the year and expressed his own hesitations about bringing his dogs to the current location, which may be worth considering if safety is a priority for you and your pets.

While speaking to locals at the park I found out this is built on top of a landfill. Some “warnings” the locals gave me were to avoid the big eternal puddle in the middle since you can’t know what’s in it and don’t let your dog dig because it sometimes produces trash. Made me a little uncomfy at the safety of this place for the pups health. Overall it is a nice park - benches, poo bags and trash cans, agility equipment, and is VERY large. No small dog separation. A town council member stopped by and mentioned the park would be moved within the year. He also mentioned he would not bring his own dogs here until it was moved.
