As farmers we have land where our dogs can run free, but that did not stop us losing our Bavarian Mountain Hound Lottie when she ran away across fields and onto the bypass. This made us consider the fact that there are very few safe areas around the village for local people to let their dogs off the lead safely – without getting in their car first!
