If you’re a dog owner, then you definitely know how rewarding it is to take your pup on a good outing to burn off its energy. Your pup comes home tired (and a little less naughty!), ready for a long nap while you are able to enjoy a little quiet time. However, finding the right place to take your dog is not so easy. Dog Parks

The dog park is a staple in every community. It is crucial for your pup to socialize with other dogs, and this is a great place just for that. Besides the benefits for your pup, some of the best (human) friendships are made at the dog park. Dog parks can certainly vary in quality, and that’s why on the DogPack app, users can let others know what kind of amenities the park has, including; separated areas for large dogs and small dogs; fences all around the park; seating/shaded areas for the doggy parents; wheelchair accessibility; and much more! 

Beaches

If your pup loves to swim, then bringing it to a dog-friendly beach is the ultimate best day ever. Many public beaches section off areas for dog owners, and if you’ve never had a swim with your dog, you need to try it! Beaches are also great for dogs to play with each other in the sand. Many dogs go absolutely crazy when they feel the soft sand on their paws and will be doing zoomies all day. A beach is truly a place where your dog can be free as they will enjoy smelling all the new scents, digging until they can’t dig any longer, and ending it off with a refreshing dip in the water.

Trails

If you’re more of an adventurous kind of person, then bringing your furry friend to an off-leash trail is a perfect way for both of you to spend the day. While some dogs may not be able to hike up steep mountains or for very long, most cities have trails nearby which are suitable for everyone. Other dogs love the challenge of a strenuous hike and will surely be outpacing you on the way to the summit! 

Fields

Many dogs (particularly retrievers, as you may imagine) love playing fetch, and open fields are the perfect place for this. All you need for this outing is a tennis ball, and you can be sure that it won’t take long to tire your dog out after several sprints hunting the ball down. Fields are also great during quiet afternoons when dog parks are typically emptier than in peak hours. One thing to keep in mind when bringing your dog to a field is to ensure that it is appropriately trained in recall, as many fields aren’t fully fenced, and the last thing you want is for your pup to run off chasing a squirrel, a bird, or the absolute worst - skunks!

On-Leash Areas

For less energetic dog breeds or senior dogs, off-leash areas are not the ideal place to bring them as it can cause them to feel very anxious or scared. In these cases, on-leash areas are more suitable for them.
